Shortly before dawn, on Jeju Island…

…I found this little creature amongst the igneous volcanic rocks which make up most of Jeju Island’s southwestern coast.  In the background, a threatening sunrise, smoke from a nearby chimney and just out of view, many hungry migrant heron’s poised silently in the shallows stalking their breakfast.  There were no cars, hardly any people save a few fishermen, and all I could hear was the surf breaking idly upon the shore.  The scene was serene, the air crisp and invigorating and time just didn’t matter.  It was as though I were standing in the middle of a prayer, a meditation of Grace.

Thank you, Lord.
