From whence comes such yearning…

…unquenchable holy embers Your breath ignites.
Upon the lowliest of the low you would fain glance,
And from the shadows You lift high into Thy Glorious Light.

From where does this inward burning come, O Lord?
I give chase as though chasing a breath…

Who can fathom Grace? Who can imagine such Mercy?
From murky depths You dredge, from the heel of the world,
From the margins, the forgotten places, the grave,
From the shadows You lift high into Thy Glorious Light.

From where does this inward burning come, O Lord?
I give chase as though chasing a breath…

From where does this inward burning come, O Lord?
It cannot be quenched, insatiably consuming,
From Thy lips flow life, the Word of Mercy,
And from the shadows you lift high into Thy Glorious Light.

From where does this inward burning come, O Lord?
I give chase as though chasing a breath…

Ah, from Thy lips, O Lord, from Thy lips!
O Holy burning within, O embers of Grace,
May Your work be made complete forevermore,
And from the shadows lift Thy servant into Thy Glorious Light…

Forevermore…to give chase as though chasing a breath.
O Glorious delight, your servant sings your praise!
From Thy lips, Your Word, Your breath ignites,
From Thy lips, O Lord, all shadows give flight.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and will be forever. Amen
